Chordiant Awarded New Patent for User Interface Development
"Customer Experience" Industry Leader Achieves Innovation in User Interface Design CUPERTINO, CALIF. - March 1, 2007Chordiant Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHRDD), the leading provider of Customer Experience (Cx™) software and services, today announced that the US Patent and Trademark Office has awarded Chordiant patent number 7,178,109 for innovative user interface design, first introduced in its family of browser-based applications in 2003.The patent covers the implementation of a "Process-viewer Interface" (PVI), a new user interface paradigm designed specifically to address the needs of users when applications require complex process management and large volumes of reference information to be managed in a single work area. The patented interface design has the effect of reducing on-screen complexity for "power application users" like retail bank officers, mortgage loan officers, telco contact center agents, while increasing overall usability and ease of access to information.
A key innovation in the PVI is an overlapping process panel and data viewer design approach that reduces or eliminates the need for multiple traditional windows to represent the state of many active processes at once. With Chordiant's new technology, users have a simplified view of their application state and the ability to rapidly jump between multiple related activities while retaining simple access to all necessary supporting reference information.
"Chordiant was an early leader in developing highly interactive, rich desktop applications deployed through a browser," says Jim St. Jean, Chordiant's Vice President of Worldwide Engineering and a named inventor on the patent. "With the Process-Viewer Interface, Chordiant applications deliver the robust application experience required by our leading enterprise clients, while taking full advantage of user familiarly and the ease of install and deployment associated with browser-based solutions."
Now broadly utilizing Chordiant product and applications based on patented PVI technology, leading global brand organizations in banking, insurance, and telecommunications can deliver higher levels of performance. This is achieved by delivering more effective desktop systems to employees, offering increased ease-of-use through reduced on-screen complexity, increased efficiency, fewer errors, and reduced employee training time. The PVI interface design is relevant to any highly interactive desktop application that requires large data densities and multiple, complex business processes, for example, call centers, branch banking, credit card, and insurance claims processing.
